The first time I heard this Swedish phrase I got all starry eyed, despite its pretty simple translation: "Dare to be ugly."

There's just something about the the place I was in when I heard it that meant it connected with me very deeply. Sometimes we get the perfect piece of advice at the perfect time and I think this was one of those instances for me.

There are so many times in our lives when we are too afraid to appear ugly, in many broad senses. I wanted to be fearless in terms of the work I make - to produce things without the fear of what other might think or how they might judge.

This phrase is my reminder.
